Lake Toba is a popular tourist attraction in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The lake’s size itself which is able to hold an island called Samosir is an interesting feature that attract a lot of attention from people around the world. However, Lake Toba faces an environmental issue as the ecosystem are damaged by water pollution and deforestation. To approach this issue, our project planned to crowdsource idea from the local there. Our project has 3 main stages being, idea collecting stages, voting stages, and reward stages. Both voting stages and reward stages are included in order to ensure quality ideas and mass participant. Voting stages will also acts as a method to raise the public awareness regarding this issue. A qualitative research will be done to determine our marketing plan. By tapping into the collective intelligence of locals and with initial operational cost of $15000, we hope our project will lead to improvement of the lake.
