Our project aims to create a visual novel game using the Unity Engine to train current or potential employees of the hospitality industry, across multiple job scopes and responsibilities. Research conducted on the multiple aspects and definitions of service excellence in the industry will be used to create various scenarios. An example includes a perspective as a receptionist at a high-end hotel, where the player would be interacting and choosing best possible options with regards to customer service.
Our project will include a variety of scenarios, complete with dynamic player interactions and visual aids. We will also be implementing a score system, which is designed to provide an overall metric to allow for feedback to the player. User testing will be conducted to ensure that this is the case; we will be constantly evaluating the effectiveness of the game and its aspects based on testing, external feedback as well as developments in the industry.
Visual Novels will be a good platform as a quick training method; it will be designed to teach users appropriate responses, as deemed by service standards, rewarding the players based on the way they interpret the scenario, with valid explanation and feedback if the player chooses a less appropriate answer. It would provide prospective employees with a small but informative glimpse into the industry, and function as a guide that can be referred to achieve service excellence.
